Some questions about IUI

So, I went in for my 2nd monitering appointment. After my last one on cd11 they only saw one follicle at 11mm and pretty much said that I wouldn't be doing the IUI until Monday on cd16 (which makes sense because I am on a 30-31 day cycle). It might be earlier tho because I was on 100mg of clomid.

Well, between Tuesday morning and today that 11mm follie grew to 16mm, and there is another one on my other ovary that is at 13mm. They said given that it grew so fast they do not want to wait until Monday and they will have me trigger Friday night and do the IUI Saturday. Okay...

So here is my question. 16mm seems a bit small to me. Granted, it will continue to grow, but will it grow as fast? If a follicle has a jump in growth, does it continue to grow really fast? Could me taking vitex and drinking raspberry leaf tea be helping this process?

My concern is one of 2 things will happen: It won't grow enough and won't be mature by tomorrow night when I trigger. OR I will trigger and have the IUI too soon after. I am supposed to trigger between 6-9pm Friday then have my IUI done at 9am the next morning. Isn't that too soon? They said have sex with DH on Sunday too...DH suffers from MFI... I am lucky he can produce some once every 3 days...

They said don't worry about it, there is always next cycle if your follicles don't produce an egg. Well, there isn't a next cycle, I mean, probably not next month. That is when DH goes to get back surgery and will be out of commission for a while. UGH! Am I just driving myself unneccesarily crazy? Does the info above sound right, or does this sound like it could be a bust?

Thanks all

  • The timing from trigger to iui seems early to me. My RE had me trigger Sunday 10pm for a 10am Tuesday iui. Did this for 3 iui's and got pg each time. (one was ectopic) I did some googling back then about iui timing and there was a lot of info supporting the timing my re uses. Look into and if you feel it's too early talk to you re about changing your schedule.
    siggy should be here!
  • 16 isnt "small"...but its not trigger ready in my opinion or my REs opinion. But, since you grew so quickly over a short period of time, there's a VERY good chance it'll reach maturity overnight...what's your e2?
