Flooding is putting a wrench in my vacation plans

This flooding on the Missouri River is crazy. I live about 4miles from the river (and up a hill) so we are in no danger of flooding but it is flooding local roads as well as parts of the intersrate. We are leaving for STL this weekend and i just found out that part of our main route to get there is closed to flooding. It is also looking like they might close I-29 this weekend in Iowa/North Missouri which would put us to planB of driving to Des Moines bedfore going south (basically avoiding the river). The normal trip is 7-8 hours and these detours will add another hour to the  trip.This should be fun with a 2 year old. Oyyyy.......i have been loking forward to seeing family again and now i am dreading the drive. Thank goodness we have a dvd player. Lets hope it helps for that extra hour. Any tips for keeping him happy for longer would be appriciated. He usually does ok for about 6-7 hours.
