Did anyone sell their wedding dress?

It's time to get rid of mine and I wondered if any of you ladies had done this? I looked into one consignment shop, but they won't take anything over 4 years old, and mine is just over. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Craig's list with pictures?

  • E-Bay? I saw a sign for a place in Everett that buys them and then rents them out to photographers and people who cant afford a dress. Its on 128th st...
  • If you have a hard time selling it or decide it's too much of a hassle you can donate it. I thought about doing this, I just haven't yet. I don't really feel like spending time going through the CL process and having to meet up with people. For some reason I never really thought about consigning.

This is one organization I found but I'm sure there are tons of others.

Blue Sky Bridal in Greenwood has gotten some good reviews for both buyers and sellers.  It sounds like they take good care of their dresses when re-selling - they ask customers to take off shoes and wear gloves.
  • I sold mine on Craigslist and insisted they pick it up in my area, I would think shipping a big heavy dress would be expensive.

I ended up selling it to a really young gal who worked for the same company I do, different office, so that was kind of funny.  She was really happy about buying the dress, she said she wanted one like it but didn't think she could afford it.  She sent me pictures after her weddng of her in the dress, it was really sweet.  :)

  • I had two dresses (bought the first one way to early and could not alter it that much) I sold it to a Military wife off craigslist. They wrote me a check for it and I lost it. Apparently it was my gift to them and I was glad it went to a military family!
  • I sold mine at Blue Sky Bridal. They were great. Even though your dress is just over four years you can send them a picture. If the style is still current they will probably still take it.

  • I sold mine through www.preownedweddingdresses.com - it was really cheap to post it and was much easier to use than CL.  I had multiple inquiries and sold my dress in less than 3 months of being posted at the price I wanted to get.
