DS will turn 4 months next week, and his pedi already is reccommending we put rice cereal in his bottle and do a serving of pureed food (as much as he'll eat) in a day, if extrusion reflux is permitting the latter.
To me, it seems young for the puree (I'm OK with the rice cereal, but if DS weren't such a skinny baby, I'd likely put my foot down there too), and I'm wondering where everyone else's kid is with this timetable. Before DS was born, pedi was advocating EBF for the first 6 months if I could swing it.
Re: Solids?
We started Mj on cereal memorial weekend. We also started on Earth's Best Apples. He doesn't get the concept of the spoon yet but we try. I was told to use 1/3 of a jar once a day. But I was told if he didn't like it then i could wait longer.
Since we started the cereal he's going to bed earlier (7:30 instead of 8:30/9:00). he'll also wake up for his binky at 6:30 and go back to sleep until 7:30ish.
Curious...what this on your own or through your pedi's advice? I have read that solids (the purees - not necessarily cereals) are a serious no, no prior to 4 months. Sounds like you started shortly after 3 months?
It is also a myth that rice cereal will make your baby STTN or sleep longer.
...no thanks to my PCOS (Dx 2006,though should've been dx during maybe the Clinton years).
P/SAIF always welcome, especially if you share your sticky baby dust! **Looking to buy some gently used, one size Fuzzibunz. PM/Page me if you're selling. Thanks!**
Here's an article from Time:

Children who start solids before 4 months are 6 times more likely to be obese by age 3. This was in FF babies.
