This, and they stick to it pretty strictly. I gave birth there last June and we had a whole waiting room full of family, but the nurses didn't hesitate to kick out relatives when too many snuck back to my room.
Maybe its because I had a C-secion and it was getting later in the day when I was all finished, but the nurses at St. Joe's definitely looked the other way in terms of number of people in my room. I think I had 6 or 7 at one point. They may have also been more sympathetic since James went to the NICU and I was not doing so well. I spent 8 days and James was in for 10 and I couldn't have asked for better care for both of us.

Forgot to mention that AFTER delivery they allowed more in. I had at least 5 people in my room then, but they ahd to wait in the waiting room unitl after the baby was born.
Erm. I had five people in while I was laboring. I ended up with an emergency c-section, so I don't know how many they would have kicked out if I went into delivery-mode, but my husband, parents and sisters were with me all day while I labored.
