Success after IF

tell your daycare now...

if you don't want them to tell you about milestones...apparently I forgot that talk and she told us yesterday that he took two steps :(  He's so tired by the time we pick him up at night that he doesn't even want to stand up at home, let alone show us how he can balance or cruise along furniture.  gah!  I'm very excited for him, he looked so proud when she was telling us, seriously, he was beaming ear to ear and was clapping...but dang it!  I want to see him take steps!!

Re: tell your daycare now...

  • :(

This makes me so sad for you!  I'm so sorry this happened when you didn't want it to.

We told our daycare to tell us - but it totally sucks.  There's definitely not an easy or right answer in these situations.

((Hugs)) mama!  (But YAY! for little man!)

  • And you will see - lots of them.

I was home with the boys for over 2 weeks and Alex was sooooo close to crawling.  Well, he goes to DC for a week and one day (on a Monday too!) the daily sheet says (in huge letters) "Alex was crawling forward today"!

Even worse?  Since MIL does some of the pick ups, even she got to see it before I did.

    Agreed. Ouch. :(

And Mousey - wow, go Jones!! Will isn't walking yet (as far as I know), but I'm always afraid he'll do it at daycare first! ;) I feel your pain. But I'm sure you'll see lots of steps soon. Once they learn something like that, they definitely don't want to stop!

  • I hear ya. Henry rolled over on my FIRST day back from maternity leave. My husband was watching him that day. He was so excited for him and called to tell me. TEAR!

  • Audrey took her first steps the very first time we left her overnight. Seriously, I was with her every single day, and the ONE day I left, she started taking steps. I was crushed I missed it and that we didn't get it on camera either.

  • (((Hugs)))  I'm sorry to hear that you missed him taking those steps, but it's so good that he's doing this!  Hang in there!  I hope he does it for you soon.

  • It always seems like all of Aly's milestones are at daycare or with my dh.  It's the same way here though, by the time we get home in the evening she's pretty tired and doesn't really do much but eat and get ready for bed.  Of course now that it's summer and I'm off (I'm a teacher) I'll hopefully get to see more of these things!

  • That sucks -- I'm sorry.  Ivy's first steps were at daycare too, and it was soooo bittersweet.  I'm sorry you didn't get to see it, but congrats on your little walker -- what a big boy!

  •  I work at Jack's DC and I made it well know I didn't want to know if he took steps there. Then when I went to go get him on my lunch today his teach said, " so he's taking steps now huh?" Luckily we saw it last night, but what if we hadn't? I was so mad!

I'm sorry she ruined it for you, and that you weren't there for them. But I don't think it counts as first steps until mommy and daddy have seen it =)

    Way to go Jones though!
