Our NICU is very very small - only 16-20 beds - and I've become friends with some of the other mothers. My very favorite (her baby was born at 24w5d, about 3 weeks before my babies and we've gotten very close) is getting discharged tomorrow. Yay for her, boo for me! I want to do something special for her, but I don't know what to do on such short notice. Any ideas?!?

Re: I need ideas!!!
The other moms in my NICU did the following:
--gifts of clothes for when our LOs are "big"
--balloons or signs to put in the yard like you would traditionally do when a baby is born and comes home
--gift cards for dinners for the first week at home
Also, I would say exchange numbers if you haven't yet. Having other preemie moms to talk to is still important when you go home--going home is lonely if you are used to the community of the NICU (or it was for me at least). It has helped me a lot to stay in touch with the moms I met during or stay. We are also planning to get all the babies together so we can socialize with the peace of mind that our babies are all super-sterilized
Our precious girl, born at 27 weeks.
