two month shots :(

So we went today for my son's 2 month check-up (at 10 wks old) and we experienced his first set of immunizations. It was the saddest thing I have ever seen! Poor baby cried and cried...for about 3 minutes and was done. But his little face was sooo sad! It hurt my heart to see him like that! I think it has had longer emotional effects on me than him. However...he has been kinda fussy and sleepy so far since the shots. He has slept more today than he has in about a month! Not looking forward to his 4 month check up when he gets more shots.

It's definitely harder on you than it is on them! The second I picked DD up after her shots she stopped crying immediately.

DS got his at 8 weeks 2 days. I made DH go with me which was good because he had to hold DS while they gave the shots. The thought of holding him while they poke him is just too much. The first 2 shots he took ok, the 3rd was the worst and by the 4th he was just done with needles. I told DH he has to take off on the 4 month appointment too.

My girls got their 4 month shots on Monday. They didn't seem as bad as the 2 month shots. There were only 2, one in each leg. They only cried for a minute and then they were all smiles. Since my babies were preemies, they had to get their hemoglobin checked, so they did a finger prick. That was way worse than the shots! The only thing about the 2nd set of shots is that its more likely for a fever afterward. My girls were a little warm yesterday, and they haven't been sleeping very well. They feel cooler today, and have been sleeping a lot.
