DH needs a pick-me-up

DH is a surveyor by training, though is military training means jack *beep* in the civilian world so he gets to do the entry level stuff. He got laid off in '08 and took a job with the Dept. of Transportation doing something completely different. It's horrible pay, really repetitive and not in the least bit challenging. He interviewed for an entry level survey position in the DOT back in August and was "hired" on the spot. They told him once they can make an opening or get the go ahead he'll be transfered. We're going on a year and still no transfer. They're now having to lay off over a 1000 workers. They're closing down districts (including the one in Joplin, how that will end up working out I don't know) and changing the way things are done. Needless to say, it'll be a really long time now before he'd be able to transfer. We're so thankful he has a job with really good benefits (my medicine costs $270 less a month out of pocket) but some days he just gets really bummed about it. Today is one of those days. Normally we'd go out to eat but money prevents that now ... I was thinking about baking something tasty but I know DS will prevent that from happening. Any suggestions?

  • Brownies? cookies? Does he play x-box or a game system - sometimes i used to rent DH the newest latest game  from blockbuster (or wherever) and give him a night off of baby as a surprise

  • He does play Xbox but started his summer class last night so he has homework to do tonight. I don't think DS would let me bake.

  • Does he like Rice Crispy Treats? I have no idea why, but DH has been begging me to make them for him.
