Maternity clothes

Hey ladies -

I'm hopping over from 1st tri to ask for your help.  I need your recommendations for good places for maternity clothes.  First tiem around my clothes were so drab but it was winter, so didn't matter as much.  But as I will most likely need maternity grab before the weather turns cool, I'd love some suggestions on your favorite sites/stores!  Also, I'm tall (5'11")...so any other tall ladies, I'd love suggestions on where you found tall slacks (have to have some of those for court).

Thanks!

  • I'm taller and I relied heavily on maxi dresses for summer pg. (I had twins last pg and it was hard finding even maternity gear that would fit over my bump). The nice thing about maxis are that you don't even need to buy them in maternity--they allot a nice "room to grow" in your normal size.

Sites I liked are destinationmaternity.com, motherhood maternity (some Macy's and/or BRU carry their lines in their stores), and Old Navy for everyday basics.

  • Target has maternity jeans in long (only place I could find that does) but you have to order them. They also have fantastic long tanks which I have been living in since it got warm.

  • Burlington Coat factory has a big selection and doesn't break the bank

Old Navy has a bunch but i have never been pleased with anything that i have ordered from there

  • Keep it simple in the summer. Sundresses are great, throw on a cardigan and a pair of flats for work. That is my basic workwear outfit, and then at home I live in tank tops and capris or skirts.

Old Navy and Gap have good maternity wear. I also buy separates at Target and Kohl's, not always maternity wear either, just regular stuff. I bought a cute stretchy long skirt at Kohl's that isn't maternity, and it still works.

  • As PP mentioned, maxi dresses are great!  Especially for us tall ladies (I'm 5'10".) I bought a few at Forever 21 for $10 each!  They were non-maternity.

I can't help with the pants though - I don't plan on wearing pants this summer so I am not going to buy maternity pants. Just dresses and shorts if I can get away with it (I'm a teacher so I have the summer off.) In the fall I just plan on wearing leggings and tunics (and sweats at home of course.)

  • JC Penny has a lot of harder to find sizes for maternity.  If they have Women's I'm sure they've got Talls.  Of course, you've got to go to the online catalog...

  • Also a tall girl!

I bought 2 pairs of "long" jeans at Motherhood. ONe pair is perfect, and the other pair is SUPER long! I love it!

Also, capris! Those are never too short!

And like everyone else has suggested, sundresses. Old Navy has tons and they're cheap.

    Good luck!

  • You might also try maternity and children's consignment shops in your area. I have a few near my home, and sometimes you can find high end gently worn maternity clothes for a fraction of the cost.

  • Good luck with the pants! I didn't try Gap, just because I couldn't spend the $80 on each pair of maternity pants I needed!

I ended up buying some slacks from Motherhood, but in order for them to be the right length, I had to buy a Large Long... and they swollow me =/ I figure I'll eventually grow into them though =/

  • I have to continue the love of maxi dresses, they are the bomb for pregnancy. Cheap, easy to find, no maternity needed. I haven't tried motherhoods slacks, but their jeans are plenty long enough, but I'm only 5'8". And try goucho pants, they look dressy, and they are wonderful for the bump.
  • Love Old Navy's maternity pants. This site has some really cute clothes, too. I'm ordering some pieces from here. https://www.kikisfashions.com/

Target, Old navy, even used clothing from second hand places and ebay have some cute item and great deals. I have gotten the belly bands so I don't have to buy maternity pants/shorts for the summer :-D and honestly I have gotten a few dresses and tank tops that's been it. I have gotten a lot of baby doll type tops, so I can wear them with my expanding belly and after I give birth. Lol, I have to work with a tight budget though. have fun shopping!!
