Just for fun...your childhood toys

What toy (if any) did you REALLY want but never got? If you got all the ones you wanted, what was your all time favorite?

For me it was a Teddy Ruxpin! I wanted one so bad but my mom refused to buy one for me because she didn't believe in toys that "did" things. She was kinda hippy-ish & thought toys should only require imagination, not batteries. I saw a Teddy Ruxpin on tv the other day & had the urge to scour the internet & buy one for myself now.

  • I wanted a power wheel sooooooooooo bad.   A pink barbie one.  My LO Is def getting one.

I wanted one so bad that growing up that I even tried sitting in one in like 5th grade at a neighbor's house when no one was around just to see what I missed out on.

    I didn't fit too well!

  • I really wanted one of those barbie jeeps, the motorized one? I can't remember what they're called. My parents could never afford it. My neighbor had one, but she would only let me be a passenger, I never got to drive one.

The favorite toys I did have were any barbie and the Polly Pockets. I freakin' loved those Polly Pockets!

Haha! I said the same thing! We were both deprived as children.

I loved polly pockets toooo, and I was a barbie freak!   I had a huge doll house and everything you could imagine.  I kept it all.  Half the attic is filled with just my childhood toys.

i also loved little people.  I kept all that stuff too!

Ya I never got one of those jeeps either. Again with the whole "imagination only" toy thing. My neighbor had one & I too only got to be a passenger.

I loved Polly pockets too! And My Little Ponys too.

  • Barbie Dream House.  My dad ended up making me one out of cardboard and a shoe box for an elevator.  It looked my Barbies lived in a crack den.

  • Ok, now I'm having flashbacks. Do you guys remember My Little Pony? What about the troll dolls? Oh, and Quints too! Thinking of my childhood toys brings a smile to my face. And I used to make MASSIVE mansions with my brother's legos.

LOL! I was never a big Barbie fan but relatives always bought them for me because I was a girl and that's what girls like.  So one year my mom bought me a generic version of Barbies dream house (we were poor and I'm sure it was just super cheap).  The problem was Barbie was too tall for the house and I had to make her stoop to fit.

Oh, I loved Quitnts too! And I had a ton of Trolls. There was even a store devoted only to Trolls at the local mall. I spent a lot of my parents money there. What about Strawberry Short Cake & Rainbow Bright! I might be a weirdo, but I loved the new plastic toy smell. Actually I still do.

I had one of these and took it with me everywhere. In fact, I still have her. She is dirty, missing stuffing, sewn in about 5 locations due to large tears, with a button belly button sewn on my yours truly. Other than that, Puffy is in mint condition!

I have a strawberry shortcake doll, but that was it. I never played with any Rainbow Bright stuff. Was that a Disney Channel thing? For some reason I think of The Disney Channel when I think of those toys and I didn't have the Disney Channel growing up so I didn't really know a lot about those characters.

  • I wanted an EZ Bake Oven so bad it's not even funny.

I blame my lack of kitchen skills to this day on my bitterness from never having one.

And ditto to the Barbie Jeep.

Apparently I was a pretty flighty kid who was easily distracted...my mom says she made a point to never buy anything that could potentially a) burn the house down or b) I could use to run over/maim my sister with. Humph. No fun.

My sister always wanted one, too, and she found one for her kids for like $10 at a tag sale. That was like 4 years ago and they still ride it around all the time.

For me, it was also the Barbie Dream House. I had a homemade doll house that my dad crafted for those little animal toys? I forget what they're called but I know they still sell them. But my house wasn't big enough for my Barbies to stand in, so they had to sit all the time.

I had one and became a chef so I think your reasoning is sound.

I don't think it was Disney Channel. I think it was just on standard basic cable. We never had Disney Channel either, except when they try to persuede you to buy it & they give you a demo for like a week. I was hooked to the tv for that week!

I wanted a doll house, but we were kind of poor so my mom made one out of boxes.  It was a nice attempt, but I wanted one with all the furniture that matched and everything.  When SD turned 3 I went crazy and bought her one.  I bought every piece of anything that could go with it except for 3 items.  I figured we could get those for Christmas or something.  By the time I checked out and got everything in my car I decided that was redic so I went back in and bought the rest of it.  ( Ok, so that may have been redic)  I play with that house way more than she does!

    LOL!!

I had a doll house that I loved but it was all paper cut outs, it was insane. It looked like a Victorian mansion and even the chairs were card stock that was tabbed together. My mom must of spent days trying to get it all together.

ETA. I think this was it, the stove looks right.

Wow!  She must have really loved you!  That is awesome.  We have the loving family dollhouse from fisher price.  It is neat because it makes noises and stuff plus we have the camping set that goes with it and the mini van.  This is a pic of us at karissa's 3rd bday party.  How could I not have bought it all, I mean really look how stinking cute she was!

Me too!  I did get a Barbie pool though, which was pretty cool.  Oh, and one Christmas my big gift was the Barbie Dream 'Vette, which was hot pink and shiny.
