What kind of camera do you have? I'm looking at starting some amateur photography soon and I know NOTHING about cameras. I bought a fancy regular digital one based off of reviews, and the pictures do nothing for me.

I love the way your pictures turn out. They are beautiful!

Re: *Beccaboo0713*

  • Did you get a point and shoot or a DSLR?

  • Ha, no. DH was supposed to get me a camera for Christmas. Ended up pawning that off on his parents to get "Us" a camera as their present so he could try and pass off a casino trip (with his parents at 7 months pg) as my Christmas present.

So I ended up having to buy my own and I couldn't afford the DSLR then. I got a Canon SX130 IS.

It's just not what I expected it to be. It tries to be like a DSLR. But it's just trying. It lets you control your aperture, shutter speed, and a bunch of other stuff but it just doesn't give you enough range to do anything.

  • I don't remember which camera Becca has but I know it's a DSLR. Unfortunately getting the quality with a point and shoot is pretty difficult. I have a "fancy" point and shoot but still prefer my dinosaur Minolta SLR. Unfortuantely it's now packed away because it needs repair and just to get it cleaned and repaired would cost over $300 Sad

  • I may try and find one used. Or, just take a good picture with the qualities I'm looking for up to a camera place and say, I want this kind of camera.
I'd love to start taking some good pictures. Mine just seems soooo slow.

  • sorry, dealing w/ two sick babies. first, thank you. second, it's a canon 5d mark ii. However I used an entry level DSLR for a long time and it was great. While you might not be able to get the clarity, sharpness and detail you can get with a DSLR with your point and shoot you can take some pretty nice pictures with one. Try googling 'how to get the most out of your point and shoot' you will get some pretty good results.

  • Hope your babies feel better! And thank you! I'll try googling that and see what I can get. Even with this new camera, pictures of DD sitting still end up blurry, dark, or just bad all together. I don't want to document her first years with bad pictures!
