On Monday night, Rory broke free of her swaddle and woke herself up at 4:30am. She usually eats between 5 and 6am so, after trying to get her to go back to sleep, I quietly got her up, changed her diaper, made her bottle, fed her and went to put her in her crib, all without waking DH.
Last night, I asked if she could sleep on his side because I was tired. She again broke out of her swaddle and woke herself up at 4:30am (either she's getting stronger or I have forgotten how to swaddle...?). Of course I was awake but was pretending I wasn't.
DH (poking me): What does she want?
Me (sigh): Give her the binky, she'll probably go back to sleep.
Thirty minutes later...
DH (poking me): She's not asleep.
Me (sigh): Feed her.
DH: Can you make her bottle? (I had put it on his side of the bed since she was over there)
Me (sigh- getting up to walk around to the other side of the bed and make the bottle). SIGH.
DH: Are you mad?
Me: Well, the point of her sleeping on your side is so I can stay asleep. Now I'm awake at the same time I was yesterday.
DH: Oh.
To his credit, he fed her and burped and put her in her crib without anymore talking. But then he came and sat on my side of the bed, waking me up again, to tell me he was getting in the shower and going downstairs. I love him... but really.
Re: Really DH?
I always have to wake DH up when she cries over the monitor. I can usually go right back to sleep BUT DH doesn't seem to know how to turn a door knob.
So every door he opens and closes, sounds like it's slamming. Really?
Then, once he's done, he get in and proceed to tell me about how much she ate, how she burped really loud, if her diaper was dirty or not... If I wanted to know - I would've done it myself!
They say to stop swaddling when your LO starts breaking free of it. It will take a few nights of her waking up but she will learn to sleep without it. My LO is almost 13wks but only breaks out when DH swaddles her, lol.
You have it easy. Only once has DH ever woken up to help with our LO.
