I always used to abbreviate it to Cincy until I lived here. For some reason, businesses, newspapers, etc., abbreviate it Cinti. I got used to that and now that's what I do when I shorten it.
Along these lines, I miss the old abbreviations of states before "they" switched over to the two-letter style. Mich., Nev., Mass., Cali., Fla. Anyone else remember when they went to the two-letter system? I remember learning about it in school and we all had to learn the new way of abbreviating the states.

I remember this, but I don't remember exactly when it happened. I was googling it because it peaked my curiosity -- and everything I've found says that the state abbreviations were changed to two-letter codes in 1963, to accommodate use of the ZIP codes. None of us were around in 1963, so I don't know what other momentous event occurred that spurred the switch that we remember.

I've done Cinti for as long as I can remember.
I remember having to memorize the 2 letter codes also.
