I was just reading Consumer Reports and they were rating sunscreens. They mentioned that some sunscreens contain retinyl palmitate, which in animal studies has been linked to skin cancer (go figure, sunscreen causing cancer instead of preventing it!) and in human acne medication studies has been linked to birth defects. So they recommend that pregnant ladies stay away from the following...just thought I'd share, especially since summer is heating up! Even if you can't remember the specific types listed, check the ingredients for retinyl palmitate.
Banana Boat Sport Performance SPF 30
Coppertone Sport Ultra Sweatproof SPF 30
Hawaiian Tropic Island Sport SPF 30
NO-AD with Aloe and Vitamin E SPF 45
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist SPF 45
Banana Boat Sport Performance SPF 100
Neutrogena Sensitive Skin SPF 60+

This is a good resource for everyone and sunblock.
I use Neutrogena Sensitive Skin 60+ and it does not have retinyl palmitate in the ingredient list. I chose that one because it uses physical sun blocking ingredients (titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) and it is fragrance-free.
I wonder how correct and up-to-date this list is? The bottom line is always check the ingredients.

This lists all the ingredients, and harms if if any from those ingredients.
Great! Thank you for sharing this. Looks like I still have some research to do to find the perfect sunscreen.

This. The EWG site is a good place to get ideas on what's good and what to totally avoid. We use only natural/organic sunscreens on the girls and ourselves. You can find good sunscreens online and in places like Whole Foods and local organic/crunchy stores
I bought a vegan on last year, loving naturals, I think, and it was horrible. It was a weird gray color, and smelled nasty. I used it anyway because it was expensive. And I will probably use it this year, to use it up, but also, this year I bought California baby, and the aveeno face stick (I think that is what it is) and I am much happier.
