So we are going on two family vacations this summer--the first is a trip to Isle of Palms (South Carolina). My parents rent a beach house and we all stay there, well my dad just got an email that the house they had booked originally (which was actually up for sale) was sold and they had to transfer us to a different property. Well the new property is a HUGE upgrade and has a private pool and patio in the backyard. Originally I wasn't going to worry about any sort of safety floating device for Nicholas since the pool we were going to be going to was a walk away and I wasnt really worried about the beach since there will always be tons of adults with him. Now I am kind of nervous wondering if I should get something for him since the pool will be just a door away. I also have no idea if there is any sort of child safety stuff around the pool and if it would be accessible to him, etc.
He can't open doors but he is walking now and there will be lots of people going in and out (my whole side of the family + kids). Our second vacation is down to a lake house on Lake Barkley-- I hadnt really thought about what to do with this since there is a steep walk down to the dock and I don't know if we had even thought about bringing Nicholas into the lake with us but now I am wondering if I should just go ahead and buy something for him now and have it for both trips.
I have no idea what would even work with him since he is still pretty small (14.5 lbs and 27.5 inches) but he is mobile like a typical 15 month old. Any suggestions? I don't even know what would be appropriate. TIA!
Re: floaties/life jacket ?
I would recommend getting a life vest (yes they make them that small) we bought ours at Bass Pro Shop for our little vests. They were reasonably priced. We don't have kids but we have a lake house that kids come to. Our rule is life vest on (and buckled given recent headlines) if you are on the dock. NO EXCEPTION, even for adults
For the $20.00 totall worth it..IMHO
