D.C. Area Babies

Mr. Crankypants

He doesn't have a temperature, he won't take a paci, although he likes trying to put it in his mouth himself, and he hasn't napped all day even though DH has been trying.

I think he's trying to roll over because he's kind of flailing himself around whether he's on the ground or in the swing, or in my arms.

He's been whimpering and crying alternating with nursing and occasional smiles since I got home. He's chomping on everything in sight, but that's not new. Poor kid. I wish they came with diagnostic keys.

I just hope he gets some sleep tonight.

  • Sounds like he could be teething.

  • Totally sounds like teething.  DD did this for a week 3 weeks or so before we saw the first 2 teeth.  Obviously up to you, but we finally gave her tylenol - approved by the pedi for her weight.  It was the only way she slept and it was the only thing I felt OK giving her after all the recent news about different teething gels/tablets.
  • I think he's been teething for weeks already! His gums are a bit bumpy but nothing is really visible. Poor kid. We did give him some tylenol last night because he was so clearly feeling pain and he slept ok. And woke up all smiles this morning, so I hope that he has a better day.

  • MsSaint-  I was going to message you that DS slept better last night and hoped it was the same for you.  That definitely sounds like teething.  And FWIW, with my daughter any change in schedule, behavior or personality was always attributable to teething.  She cut her first teeth around 9 months, so I don't think that's DSs issue yet....
  • With all three of my kids we blamed any unexplained cranky times on teething - mainly because sometimes we just never really figured it out.  Kids teethe for months before they actually pop a tooth, which can mean they start feeling pain from teething when they're really tiny.

Anyway, "teething" is as good an explanation as any!

  • DD started teething at 3.5mo and the 1st 2 didn't pop til 7.5 mo

both of my kids are horrible teethers and it takes them a LONG time to cut them
