I was summed for jury duty tomorrow (June 8) but had sent in my paperwork at the time indicating that I'm a full-time mom. I never got an exemption letter in the mail. Has anyone had to deal with this in the past? I have no one to watch my daughter so if I call the jury line tonight and do have to show up tomorrow, am I best bringing my daughter with me since I have no other option? Or is there another way to confirm that I'm exempt without both of us having to go there tomorrow. TIA
Re: Called for Jury Duty in Dekalb Co. but full-time mom..what to do?
There must be someone you can call and see if you have to show up. I would start making some calls! I am sure the last thing you probably need is a warrant out for your arrest or be fined. Not sure what they do here...
yeah, I would say worst case, bring your DD. Good luck!
From what I remember they don't consider being a full time mom an exemption. I could be wrong, it could have changed. I found this online:
They do in fact have an exemption form for "child caregivers" to children under age 6 which you must have notarized & mail in
The main site also says:
Children: Please do NOT bring children when reporting for jury service. The local courts are unable to provide childcare during judicial proceedings.
Can your husband stay home? Or a neighbor?

If you haven't heard from them, or gotten anything back in the mail, I would definitely go. I do know they give you enough time to find a babysitter so I know that cant be used as an excuse. I would at least try and get ahold of someone at the court house asap.
I sent mine back saying I work full-time/single parent and I wouldn't be able to make arrangements and I received paper work back in a week exempting me.
It's a pain, I know, but better safe than sorry
