Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How many hours at night?

Does your LO sleep? Not sttn necessarily, but just total hours. Like DD gets up 1-2 times a night, but sleeps about 12 hours, 7:30-7, give or take.

I am wondering if this is not the norm for this age, and could explain why her naps are so short, for the most part.

I am not looking to change it, just wondering if others are sleeping 12 hours at this age.

Re: How many hours at night?

  • DD is USUALLY down at 9 ish, then wakes once, then up at 6.  That would be about....9 hours total.  Tonight she was asleep at 6:30 then I woke her a tiny bit to put her into her bassinet so I fed her to sleep again, but I'll count 630 as bedtime and see how that goes.

DD does nap about 2-3 hours in the morning too.  Usually after being up for at least an hour.

  • Our DD usually sleeps about 10-11 hours, and then takes one 1-2 hour nap in the morning, and then only 1 or 2 short cat naps in the afternoon.  She'll almost never sleep longer than a half hour in the afternoon.

  • LO will usually sleep about 11 hours at night with 1 or 2 wake ups. So maybe 8-7.  Then he is awake for 2 hours and naps for two hours.  So maybe 9-11.  Then he is awake for about two or 3 hours and naps for another 1.5- 2 hours.  So maybe 1:30-3:30.  He use to take an evening nap, but now refuses.  So he is then awake from 3:30-7:30 or 8.

  • She sleeps from about 7:30/8pm-7/7:30am, waking up once usually.  I think my DD naps like yours- she takes 2 shorter (45min) naps, and one longer one (2hrs), but the longer one usually comes when I rock her back to sleep after the first 40min.  My "goal" is to have her on 2 naps around 6months, and then hopefully they will be a little longer. Not sure if it will go as perfect as I think it in my mind though;)

  • Usually to bed about 7 or 8pm and wakes up around 6 or 7, is up for an hour or 2, then will go back to sleep around 9, then I get an early afternoon nap around 12 or 1 and another around 4 or 5 but those 3 naps can be anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes. Very seldom are they longer.

During his 11 hour stretch of sleep he'll wake about 3 times and one of those he can be up for about 45 minutes to an hour (around 5am).

It's very sporadic though and no 2 days/nights are the same.

  • DS sleeps 10-12 hours at night (he doesn't get up at night anymore either).  And he usually take 4 30 minute naps per day.
  • 10 - 11 hours, waking up twice.

  • Roughly 12 hours or so. She is down at 830 and up between 8-9am. one feed normally at 4-5ish

She just started taking a 1.5-2hr nap in the morning and 2 45min naps in the afternoon

  • Usually 11 -12/night. He goes down around 11, wakes up to eat between 6 and 7, then goes back to sleep until 10 - 11.

He also naps terribly during the day - we get three to four 30 - 45 minute naps if I'm lucky.

7:30/8 to 6/6:30 so 10ish hours. Her naps are all over the place...sometimes 1-3 hours, sometimes 30-45 minutes but still 3-4 naps
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
