have you introduced a sippy cup?

DS loves to hold his own bottle, but he only really knows how to do it if he's laying down/reclined.  He doesn't actually get the concept of picking it up and bringing it to his mouth and tipping it up yet...which he'll need to know before he can use a sippy cup.

Curious when others started a sippy cup...

    We plan to phase out the bottle and start with a sippy around 9-12 months.

    we give him a sippy cup but he just plays with it.. it seems he enjoys it. He starting to understand to suck on it but he makes a really funny face when he gets it ( we put a little water in it)

    We got the cutest little doggy sippy cups (and matching plates, spoons, bowls, etc.) at Ikea and I just gave it to DS with a tiny bit of water in it yesterday.  He knows to put it in his mouth but he doesnt know how to tip it yet.  He also bit the shizz out of it with his new little teeth.

    Babies R Us sells an Avent Training Sippy Cup. Its a sippy cup that comes with a nipple, so its like a bottle. It comes with the attachement to turn it into a sippy cup. It says that its for 4+ months. I plan on starting it then. Hope this helps.

    This.  I just set up the high chair and set a plate, spoon, and an empty sippy cup on the tray for her to play with.  She gets a kick out of putting each item in her mouth. I wanted her to be familiar with each thing before we actually start using them!

    We started a few weeks ago giving him a sippy with a bit of water with his solids meal. He still mostly just plays with it but sometimes he will take a couple sips from it. I'm hoping that we will make the transition from the boob to the cup at a year and be able to skip the bottle completely.

    We started about 2 weeks ago.  She mostly just chews on it though.  I wanted to introduce her to it so she doesn't think the bottle/boob is the end all be all.
