I am getting an idea of how popular it's getting. How many of you are seriously considering the name Evelyn?
Missed miscarriage discovered at 16 weeks on 10/11/10. Baby measuring 12 weeks. Natural miscarriage 10/12/10. We will miss you forever.
Chemical pregnancy on June 2012.
I am actually not considering it because it's my niece's name (age 3). I have a coworker with a daughter named Evelyn too (age 2). And I know a 30-something Evelyn.
I love it but DH says no, so we are not considering it. I'll keep it on my list to recommend each time we talk about names though. But it's never been on my short list. Also, this board is not a good representation of the rest of the country or your area. I would consult the SSA for that. The women here have much more sense about them then the ones that are making Nevaeh popular, as an example.
It was our girl name if DS#2 was a girl. If we have a girl, I will still consider it, but continue searching because I feel like it is becoming too popular (or at least a lot more popular than our boys names)
We went to the hospital with this name and our DD's name. We chose the other name, but still love Evelyn. However, I think it is becoming more popular. Check the SS website for this year's ranking
I know it has been on the Top 100 list for the past two years but honestly.. I have not met one person who had a baby names Evelyn yet! (She is 13 months)
It may be common but not super common.. I love it

IMO, Evelyn is a very old fashioned name, so if you're into the classic/older names, go for it. However, my ex MIL, who is nearly 70, has the name of Evelyn. That leaves a bitter taste in my mouth considering my ex-husband told me after we were married that he wanted to marry someone just like his mom and I need to start trying to be just like her. Oh, and lets not forget the fact that she used to slap me across the face all the time. Needless to say, she made me despise that name. Come to find out, ex-H recently got remarried, had a daughter and named her EVELYN!
