Hi Everyone,
I'm not a Pittsburgh resident, but have a question about traveling through. My husband and I are driving from Michigan to Delaware in Mid-August. Our baby will be ~10 weeks old at the time. We're looking for a nice, clean, kid friendly hotel (preferably with a pool for us and are looking to spend <$150/night. Could you recommend a place off the highway (I believe we are taking I-76) or not too far off the highway that would be a safe, pleasant experience? Would you recommend we make the trip to stay in downtown Pittsburgh or just a few miles outside? Any tips and recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Re: Hotel recommendation
I would recommend the Hampton Inn in Cranberry. It's just off the turnpike (I-76) but about 15 miles north of Pittsburgh. My husband and I stayed their recently when we were in the midst of moving and it was very nice & they have a pool. Plus it's a quick trip into the city if you want to go sightseeing.
I work in the hotel industry in Pittsburgh. I agree with bkatherine~ Cranberry is right off the turnpike and offers a variety of hotels. Sheraton Four Points, Residence in, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn. If you want to be a little closer to the city you can stay in Ross Township (5 miles North of the city) They have a Holiday Inn and a Hampton Inn and a great mall! I would stay away from staying downtown because all the properties are really expensive, especially in the summer~they are really beautiful though!
Hope this helps.
