I just switched, and I'm not understanding how to do all the computer stuff to book appts. send emails and all that stuff, do my daughters need their own acct. on my kp.org, what's the best way to make an appt?
Also if you didn't get the doctor you wanted was it easy to change?
TIA!!
Re: can someone give me a kaiser tutorial??
Welcome to Kaiser!!
You do NOT have to use the computer for anything (if you don't want to). I book all my appts over the phone - the online app was too complicated for me.
I do LOVE having email access to my Dr. That's what I use the website for most often. DSs account is connected to mine. I login with my account information and select "Switch Member" to manage things for DS.
Once you get set up online with an online account and connect it to your daugher's medical record numbers, you'll be able to do stuff for yourself and them. The only thing I can't do is make appointments online for my son, even though I am an authorized user for him.
I've found the website helpful for ordering perscriptions (yay!), checking test results and emailing my doc for non-urgent things. Urgent stuff is still done by phone though.
You can. You have to request an access code (in addition to the one you already did) to be able make to make appointments for him.
Love Kaiser, love kaiser online.
First set up an account for yourself. You can schedule appts online but the easiest way to make appts for the first few times is over the phone (are you going to Pleasanton? I can send you all the #'s and give you rec's for Drs). I don't think you can send emails until a Dr is selected.
You'll have to call the central Kaiser Desk if you don't like the Dr, but its very easy. Just call, tell them you want to switch and they give you a new one.
Yes the kiddos will need access but it will all be under yours. Under My Profile, select Act for a Family Member, then select Add a member to my List, select for Children under 17, Request Authorization. You'll need Child's full name, birth date and medical ID number.
Once you do that when you are making appts for them, you go under your normal profile select Make Appointments then select "Switch Member" under your name or Make a New Appointment for Another Member.
If you need to get back to yours, just switch Members again back to yourself. Now I make all regular well checks and physicals through online, but any sick ones I call.
Ditto. Although I don't even remember the access code part. I just know that I can.
I don't use an access number, I just log in under my name and then go to book appts & there will be buttons that ask if it's for me or another family member. I click that and select which family member.
you can't do it when acting for another member, you have to go back to yourself and then go to make appointments, there is an option to make one for you or yourself. And the super cool thing is, you can make same day appointments for illness online doing that - bypass the advice nurse crap! Our pedi told me last week they are working on getting that part fixed, so that it's easier to make appts for the kids. Same situation with pharmacy refills, I have to be signed in as me and refill a prescription for someone else.
