Totally jealous

My step sister in law just had a baby in April. Since then (about a month and a half), she has lost 30 pounds of her pregnancy weight and is 10 pounds away from her pre-pregnancy weight. WTF? I couldn't lose 10 pounds at any time!

  • I'll just say that I was all thrilled when I lost 20 of the 30lbs I gained within the first two weeks. Delivery and nursing does wonders! That meant I only had 10 more to go. Yeah... 11 months later I still have the spare 10lbs. :( Looks like I'll actually have to work for those to come off.

  • I was down to within 5 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight within the first couple of months, and have been at pre-pg weight for well over a year, but you'd never know it by the way I look or the way my clothes fit. I'm a totally different shape now, and not in a "new and improved" kind of way. And I don't want to go crazy trying to tone up now if I'm just going to go and get pg again in a few months and ruin all my hard work!

  • I hear you!  A friend of mine just had her baby on Thursday, like a few days ago.  I saw her at a birthday party yesterday and she looked amazing!  Showered, beautiful, wearing what appeared to be pre-pregnancy clothes.  And this was after her 3rd kid!

    So, my youngest is almost 3 years old and her youngest is 3 days old - and we looked about the same - you could probably argue she looked far better!

    S-you are so funny. I am sure you looked fabulous :)

    As for losing the weight. It seems to be harder with each pregnancy for me. I most definitely have about 15 pounds to go and my baby is almost 3 months old. Fun times!

  • I'm going to play devil's advocate...

    On the outside, it might seem great to lose that much weight in such a short amount of time.  But the reality of it is, losing that much weight in a short amount of time can wreck major havoc on your body.  At least it has for me... I've had more health issues in the last 8 months than I have in years.  And it's to the point where some days I think about weaning so I can go back to feeling healthy again.

    :::stepping off soap box:::

  • You have to remember that during your PG you gain a lot of weight that isn't just the baby: your blood volume increases by 50%; the placenta weighs a few pounds, all the amniotic fluid, etc...all of that is lost quickly and easily - it's not like non pg weight loss/weight gain. Can't compare apples to oranges.

  • Did she loose weight during her pregnancy? I had hypermesis. Because I'm a plus size girl my weight loss wasn't a big deal. But, it was great after! I lost 40lbs post baby. Sadly I gained it all back. Crying
