Does your husband act like you are an overprotective freak?

I swear he is gonna make me be the bad cop with this kid.  He likes to rough house which is fine because the kid loves it but I always have to tell him to be careful because Jax is still fragile or don't let him do this or that or we will have to correct it later.  We have to teach him not to play with the outlets now or not to reach into the dishwasher, etc... My husband's response is that I'm way to overprotective.  I don't want to be the bad cop. :-(

  • I don't have this problem because my hubs is the overprotective one. Although I do not let T play with the outlets or dishwasher.

  • My husband and 2 older kids all think I'm overprotective.  I always tell them it's better than not being protective at all.  They all listen pretty well when I tell them not to do something with Oliver.  I guess they realize I know more than they do about taking care of a baby.

  • My husband is the same way. Drives me crazy!

No but I'm also pretty laid back.  I don't let my kid stick his finger in a socket or hang out in the dishwasher, but if he goes for it I don't freak.  I just redirect him.

I am now picturing Conall playing in the dishwasher. Lol

  • I'm definitely more up tight about things and a worrier compared to DH.  But, it's not driving me nuts yet.  Since DS was born, DH has come to me for advice on baby things and it's kind of cute.  He's always like, "When is this going to happen?" or "Is it okay that he's doing this?".

Ha ha I say this because there are times when he totally would climb in if I let him.  He's a little stinker!!

Well T would be in there right along with him.

  • Yes, but that's because I actually might be. DS will have a rash or something and I'll be freaking out calling the dr and DH is like "he'll get over it/grow out of it." And the next day DS is fine. But I swear the kid could have Ebola virus and DH would be like "it's just a sniffle." However, I've recently realized that some of my anxiety issues might be making me nuttier than I should be--N is 7 months old and doing great but I still feel the 'newborn paranoia' in the back of my mind all the time.

I think most guys tend to be more laid back than us, especially if you're the one spending more time with the baby and really know what is/is not normal.

He's growing up, but he'll always be my baby!

  • I don't think I'm a freak about stuff.  I just read up on things and what's supposed to be going on at this point or that.  If he has a fever, then we watch for this or that etc.  So I think I know a bit more than he does about all things baby.  I am a bit overprotective but not freakishly.  I just want him to be more protective I guess.
  • Role reversal here. DH is always worried and I'm the calm one. He worries about things like G going in the lake and such, though, and whether or not we need to go to the Dr. with a fever. He will sit with G while he's having his dinner and only give him one puff at a time.

I'm a little more laid back and let him feed himself, but I watch to make sure he doesn't get too many.

Outlets and dishwashers would be a no brainer for both of us.

  • Yes, I am always worrying too much. Unless he is worrying, then it's okay. Stick out tongue
