screaming like tarzan

Reese discovered her voice a few months ago. Since then she's done a lot of chattering and she pretty much talks non-stop. The last two months she's taken to screaming in a range of octaves. It isn't upset screaming, just constant chatter. Most of the time she sounds like Tarzan (ahhh ah ahhhhh).

Look, I love the kid. I love that she's talking. I love her little voice.

But is this just a phase, or will I have a screaming kid until she learns words?

Anyone else's daughter (or son?!) like this?

  • My LO has been screaming like a banshee her whole life and it gets worse when she is not feeling well. She is also the more verbal of the two girls and more independant.

  • Yes, Piper was also like that around that age. She'd scream and screech for no reason at all. Now, she just does it occassionally and spends more time babbling and saying her mamama's and babababa's. Fletch has never really done it as much but he does a lot of loud grunting with his voice.
  • My DS, James, screams like a dolphin.  He did it all the time for 3 weeks, then stopped for a couple, now he's back.

I say he screams to stun his prey (stuffed animals, rattles, etc) before devouring it!

  • Nathan. He screams (happily) most of the day. It sound like we live with an eagle. Ryan screeches too but not nearly as loud as his brother.

I swear, Niki, do we have the same daughter?  Mine does what we call the velociraptor screech.  It's hilarious and annoying all at once.  When she does it, I just say to her, very quietly "soft voice".  Not sure if she really gets it but I am not going to have a baby that screams all the time if I can help it.

  • Their screams now are 4,286,339 times worse than they were at that age.  Tongue Tied  They just get louder and more intense, especially when they are trying to get their way and you won't let them.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • Both of my boys do this although one typically does it more than the other.  Now, when one starts, it usually gets the other one started and then they both do it back and forth even mimicking each other.  Even if I have one in the other room changing their diaper or something, they will be yelling back and forth at each other trying out all different octaves.  It can be really cute and funny but they don't know boundaries yet of when it is ok to do it and when it is not appropriate....such as in restaurants...when it is not as cute or funny.  Embarrassed

OMG we really do. I tell Reese all the time to use her "inside voice" at 5 months she clearly doesn't understand, but I feel like I'm doing something about it at least LOL
