Lurker question for resources on choosing not to circ?
We recently found out that we're having a boy and I was wondering if anyone had any good resources to help me discuss not circumcising with my DH? Not trying to start any debates or anything, just looking for info. TIA!

I think that it is great that you are trying to do research on this topic. I think a lot of women get their son circumcised without doing any research and they just get it done because that is what they think is "normal".
This is the American Academy of Pediatrics statement:
"Existing scientific evidence demonstrates potential medical benefits of newborn male circumcision; however, these data arenot sufficient to recommend routine neonatal circumcision."

Thanks. I personally do not want to circumcisize, but my husband is unsure. I can't seem to be able to acess any of these articles because they're medical journals you have to subscribe to to read. Are there any others?

This article is very one sided, but the links to the procedure is what convinced me to leave Cooper intact. There was no way I could ever do that to my child without compelling medical reason (which I couldn't find). WARNING: Photos and description of medical procedure are graphic.
I showed it to my husband and he immediately refused, especially after he had to get his own circumcision repaired as an adult.

Of course it's very one sided but Penn and Teller have a show called Bullsh!t. MH and I were in the same position you and YH are in. I showed him the circumcision episode and that was the beginning of him changing his mind. You can find the episode online, it's in the first season of the show. Of course all of the other links people provided will probably be less biased but it still makes good points and is entertaining.

That Penn and Teller show Pandi mentions has probably helped more *men* open up to questioning circumcision than anything else. I think it's on liveleak.
Something you need to understand is that there is a very strong emotional component for a circumcised man to open himself up to even questioning, it's not about the baby- it's about protecting himself from what he might find out. There is a good little essay called "The Vulnerability of men" written by Vincent Bach which is a good intro FOR YOU to understand a little about how your husband might be feeling. Your mission...it's really not about finding some specific Perfect" info you need to make available to him... HE has to be available to the question... one he is willing to question- he can easily find out what he needs to know.

Also- This is a nice youtube vid from a very "normal" dad. There are a lot of great videos on youtube- other interviews, videos of circumcisions to see what exactly this is that you are even considering, there is also a great 2 part science class style video called "the prepuce" which explains the structure and function of the anatomy in question.

yeahhhhh. While I respect everyone's opinions about penises, a lot of that info is just plain false. And when I click on your links, none of them are medical. Can you find me a serious medical journal which indicates there are more nerve endings in the foreskin than in the clitoris? You can't. I really don't get being passionate about genitals, but i REALLY don't get making *** up to make people passionate about genitals.
