NBR: Security companies

Do you have a home security system?  Can anyone tell me about how much it costs on a monthly basis and which company they use? We are looking into getting one installed for the first time, but I don't know what they good/bad parts of them are. It seems like its a hard sell approach so it makes me a little leery.

    We use Bulldog Security.  Ours is a wireless system with glass break alarms and one keypad - we pay $15 a month.  We have had very good service with them and like that they are local.

    We have Brinks, and pay $30 a month. We have 2 keypads, and a wireless key pad key ring thingie.

    same here.  It required a three year contract but we didn't have to buy any equipment.

    We had Brinks for 3 years and I wasn't impressed with them at all. They had very slow response to false alarms and sometimes didn't even call.

    We now have Ackerman and love them. We pay $28.95 a both which includes the price for our wireless monitor. We could have paid $300 for it outright but we just pushed it into our price. We do not have to have a phone line anymore for our security system which is super nice. I actually set it off by accident this morning and they called me within 2 minutes (yes I timed it). They always call within a couple of minutes. One time they called before we coudl even get the alarm to turn off. I've been very impressed with them and highly recommend them especially since they are an atlanta company.

    I also have Ackerman and I really like them.  There service is great.  They always call me (I'm terrible at setting it off).
