Umbrella Stroller Recs?

We have a BOB and have been using the Snap and Go when we travel, go to mall, etc. But we've started just sitting her in BOB without the stroller so I think she's about ready to ditch the snap and go (plus she's getting heavy and doesn't stay asleep in the car seat anymore)

So, any recs for a nice-ish umbrella stroller?

Re: Umbrella Stroller Recs?

  • I love our Graco IPO, seat reclines, has a basket underneath and a sun shade.

  • If I had it to do over again, I'd have ditched the travel system, umbrella strollers, all that for a baby jogger city mini or similar.  They are obviously pricier than an umbrella stroller, but WAY better in the long run.

Or the City Micro is an even cheaper option.

  • We love our UppaBaby G-Luxe. It's similar to the Maclaren Triumph (I think that's the right one) but has nicer wheels, a bigger sunshade, a bit lighter and a little cheaper. My only complaint is that it doesn't fold up completely flat, but that hasn't been a problem.

  • We had a Peg Perego Pilko 3.  Loved it.  MIL still uses it for Crash.
  • Perhaps I am the only one who has this issue....

We have the Maclearn and while I like it...my son barely fits in it.  If Ellie is broad in any way shape or form, this is not the umbrella for you.

If I had it to do again....hmmm...I dunno he barely fits anything outside the BOB, I think he fits the city mini....so I probably would have done that instead for my live in the car stroller since now we almost exclusively use the BOB.

EJ is no longer 99% on weight!  Though he is still 99% on height, he is only 97% for weight....he is just a very broad child.

Also be cautious of heights, if Ellie is tall some strollers will not accomodate her comfortably for long.

If she is an average child...I wold recommend the Maclearn and my BFF has the chicco one (I see it sold everywhere) and they like it.

  • I love our Maclaren (Quest?); we went directly from the Snap & Go to it.  I think if the city mini was out when we were looking, I would have checked that one out. I love how the Maclaren steers, especially when I have to hold my DD and push the stroller, I can do it with one hand. Or when I have to hold her super man style and she pushes the stroller. I like how small it folds up, it's kinda tricky the first time, but not hard. The basket is smaller than I would like, but we make do. I always have a handful clothespins handy so I can attach a blanket over for more shade if needed. My 4.5 year old can fit if needed. He's average size.
  • Also, I'll add that if you are planning to have another one, I would really think about getting a city select.  It can be a single or a double (with an additional attachment) it's expensive, but it would be able to be used with #2 for only a small price, rather than spend $ now and then again when you have another one.  Just a thought.
  • We have the Babies R Us by Baby Trend TrendSport Stroller

I like it a lot - lightweight, big basket, sun shade, reclines and a tray.

None of our other strollers have a tray and especially for trips where we are out for a long time it has been a life saver.  That way he can eat as we are on the go.

  • We use the Chicco Liteway for our umbrella. Its similar to the Mclaren strollers in size and shape, but a lot cheaper and has the same features as the higher end Mclaren ones. The seat reclines, its fairly padded and the leg rest is adjustable. BRU regularly has it on sale or you can use the 20% off coupons on it. DS survived 3 days in it at disneyland (including all naps) and it was super easy. Bonus is the basket is actually a draw string back pack so you can take it off and take it with you if you park it somewhere.
