If you're new, let us know the basics - when did you start TTC, what is your diagnosis/suspicion, where are you at in the process/next steps? Please let us know if you have upcoming treatments, so we can check in with you on a more regular basis during that time. Also read this check-in often the first week it is posted so we can answer everyone's questions. (It seems prolonged to have someone ask a question in this post and not have it answered until next month's check-in!) Finally, if you have suggestions about what else should be included in the check-in or changes, throw them out there!

Questions:
1) Where are you at in the process/what is your next step?
2) What are you doing fun this month that is non-IF related?
3) Any vents/confessions?
4) Any questions you'd like to ask the other ladies?
Re: June Infertility Check-In (SAIFW)
Questions:
1) Where are you at in the process/what is your next step? Well we finally saw the urologist last week and DH was diagnosed with a varicocele. The urologist said surgery probably still wouldn't result in us getting pregnant naturally because his stats are currently so bad. But, he thought the surgery would improve the counts enough so that we could do IUI, rather than move straight to IVF. So our next step is to battle with insurance to see if they'll cover the surgery. Also, in two weeks we are going to an adoption seminar for another agency. We just want to make sure we understand all our options.
2) What are you doing fun this month that is non-IF related? My parents have been visiting, so we've been doing lots of touristy things. And my mother-in-law is visiting at the end of this month for the first time. She's never been here and we haven't seen her in about four years. So we're excited to take her around and show her the Pacific Northwest!
3) Any vents/confessions? I would love to ask questions on the national IF or TTTC boards, but because I'm such an infrequent poster, I would feel really bad about it. I know those boards are big on being part of the community and supporting each other. I just don't have the time to be a regular poster!
4) Any questions you'd like to ask the other ladies? I know it's a long shot on this board, but anyone have experience with varicocele issues? If so, can we chat?
I'm not a frequent poster over here on the Seattle board, but I am SAIF. My son was conceived after being diagnosed with unexplained IF. Two losses, two failed IUI's led me to Clomid which did the trick. Anyways, the reason I am responding to this post is that I spent some of my time TTC lurking on the TTTC board (and I still do lurk to see how people are doing), and found that they are very receptive to new people who share their plight. You may be able to find someone else in a similar situation there. Just make sure you give them the quick backstory and I think you will find they will be willing to help even if you aren't going to be a regular poster on those boards. Good luck to you!!!
ETA: I hope it is ok that I posted here, I think it is since I see the SAIFW.
I don't have any input, but wanted to send you a hug....how are you feeling? Bitter sweet? You have an idea of a plan, but also confirmation that all the sex in the world won't work? (just speculating:) )
If you need help with INS let me know....i have gotten pretty good at this type of thing and my MIL does this for a living so she's often got great insight.
Hang in there, K, I'm here if you wanna chat.
1) Where are you at in the process/what is your next step?Currently not preventing, seeing a naturopath and on some natural estrogen and progesterone to try to start my periods. We aren't going to try any IF treatments again until H is at least 2 though .. we're just hoping to get things figured out before we have to go down that road again. 2) What are you doing fun this month that is non-IF related?Vegas next weekend for my BFF's bach. party!! 3) Any vents/confessions?Even though I was finally able to have a child, I still get jealous every time I hear of a new pregnancy among one of my friends - especially when it happens the first month or they were just 'not preventing' ... I really wish it was that easy for all of us! 4) Any questions you'd like to ask the other ladies?Does anyone have PCOS but not all the usual signs/symptoms? I have a feeling I really do have PCOS (which is what my RE thought at first when we started the IF process - until he got my blood tests back and didn't see the levels that he would expect from PCOS) - but I haven't had periods since going off BCP 10/2007 and when I had a non pregnant u/s when we were still ttc my ovaries were polycystic in appearance ... makes me think there is something more going on then just amenorrhea .. anyone else have a similar dx?
You know, I actually came to terms a long time ago with knowing sex wouldn't cut it for us. I'm actually surprised to hear IUI is a possible option after surgery. And now I'm just more confused. I guess I don't understand how if the varicocele is repaired, why it wouldn't bring the levels all the way up to normal. I feel like that means something else must be wrong and we don't know what that is. And I worry that I'm going to spend money on surgery, and then IUIs, and then it still might not work. So this changes the plan significantly, where as before it was just IVF w/ICIS. What complicates everything is that we have GroupHealth, which tends to be more difficult to work with in regards to insurance issues because they want to do everything in house. When we told the urologist that we had GroupHealth he said "uh-oh."
I'll make sure to add you to the check-in for next month! I can't help you with the PCOS question; I hope someone else can!
Thanks for chiming in. I will probably go post on TTTC next week. And you're always welcome to post here!
Hi Everyone! I?m mostly a lurker and sometimes poster forthis board.
Questions:
1) Where are you at in the process/what is your nextstep? ? We are currently beginning cycle 1 of IVF. I began my shots on Saturday. I go in foranother u/s and more blood work on Wednesday to see how everything is looking.
2) What are you doing fun this month that is non-IFrelated? ? We are going to the Mariners Phillys game on the 18th andthen the last weekend of the month we are taking the clipper up to Victoria. Igot a deal on the clipper from groupon. So excited.
3) Any vents/confessions? ? Only vent is we aren?tpregnant yet. Hoping with the IVF cycle that changes soon!
I'm late to the party this month, just got back from a trip to the east coast.
Update: Getting geared up for IVF next month!
Non-IF: I had a conference in Boston last week, then DH came out east and we took a mini-road trip through Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. I don't think we have much else planned this month, but hopefully we will get some hiking in and maybe a trip to Montana to visit my brother and his family of the 4th of July.
Vents/confessions: I'm in a really good place right now. I think finally letting go of sex as something that is going to get us pregnant, and realizing that there's nothing *I* can do to fix this situation has helped. I'm excited and terrified about IVF.

I mainly post of TTTC, which I think would be a great place for you to get answers about your variocele question. The ladies there are *really* supportive, a wealth of information and for the most part good people. Being an infrequent poster is not a problem. The people who are not thought fondly of are those who rarly post, then post their BFP, then disappear. But it is a great resource for questions about this whole process. Just post an intro so everyone knows who you are. It can be overwhelming, there are a lot of ladies on the board, but you eventually find a few people who are in a similar situation and it makes it less lonely.
Good luck with getting insurance to work with you, rather than against you! And I hope the adoption seminar goes well!
