I think the surgery will be at 7am, so we won't have to suffer so much because she will be NPO after midnight. Thankfully, the younger the baby, the earlier they schedule them for just that reason.
He just does gas...so she won't get intubated or have an IV, so that's a load off my mind. I'm just concerned about what to expect after the surgery? I'm sure she'll be a hot mess, but for how long?
I totally trust this doctor...he did my thyroidectomy and did a fabulous job...he has been our ENT for years, and he is young and well, we just love him. I know she's in good hands, but I hate the fact that she even has to have this surgery at all.
So, any advice? How did your LO do with their tubes?
TIA!
Re: Caro is getting tubes on Thursday...any advice?
Nolan was a wreck waking up, but once we were home, he took a nap, and was back to his old self! That afternoon, you would have never known anything happened! That was when he just had tubes.
This winter he had T&A, and tubes... different story!
Noah had his put in when he was only 9 months.....best decision ever!
I know this is horrible, but I can't remember what type of sedation they used. DH went back with him to the operating room because I was too emotional. But, it was so quick. He was fine when he woke up.....just crying a bit and then they let us leave once he was up.
He fell asleep on the way home and slept for another hour or so once we were home.
When he woke up, he puked....which I was not ready for (but apparently it is common....). Then he went back to sleep for like 2.5 hours and he was totally back to his old self after that.
I'm sure they will tell you this, but when you feed her for the first time, I would do bland foods since her stomach will be empty and just so she can ease back into things.
