We're decided on a name too! What about a "backup"?

I saw another post today, with their decision being Mason James which is awesome (congrats)!  My nephew is a Mason Jacob and he is adorable.  Mason is a cute name. 

We have decided on Lucas Michael for our LO!!  I love Luke alone, but DH loves Lucas and this happened to be the first name early on that we agreed on and has been the only one that has seemed to stick. 

Should we go in with "backups"? (I mean like in case we are fickle at the last minute) 

What are those of you with names decided doing?  Going in 100% or with a backup?

I'm a glutton for punishment I suppose!  We've decided on a name and now I need to take on deciding another one, lol!  Perhaps this is why I have remained so stress free during my pregnancy though.  I keep focusing on other things...rather than the impending major life change.

    What do you mean a backup? Like in case he comes out a she? Or in case you take one look and think "oh no he doesn't look like a Luke!"? I'm confused.

    FWIW I loooove your choice of name. I think Lucas is a good strong name and Luke is great, too. Plus Michael is such a classic great name, and the combo together sounds so great and flows so well. I can't find anything wrong with the name you've chosen, and you both like it, so why torture yourself?

    Just start referring to him by his name and envisioning him with this name. It took us forever to come to a name we agree on and I wasn't thrilled with the middle name that DH picked out, but the more I talked to her and called her by her name the more I fell in love with it. And now I just "feel" it... this is her name, this is her.

    I love the name Lucas Michael. Very cute!

    We picked the name Logan Robert after our 20 week u/s... I haven't second guessed the name at all.

    If you are 100% in love with the name, I see no reason to have a "backup."

    We are 100% set on our girl name, so we don't have a backup for that one. However, we aren't 100% sure on our boy name, so we'll likely have a backup for it -- we've been talking about different names lately. A boy name is really hard for us.

    It's silly.  You are right Lucas Michael is a great name and I am already making decor for the room with the letter L involved and a lion, etc.  So, maybe once we continue to envision it, then it will become more real.  It just seems like such a big decision.

    It IS a big decision!! Trust me, I felt that same way, it got me a little panicky at times, lol!  

    And yes, I think the more you talk to your little Lucas Michael by his name the more it'll feel settled for you. Plus all the cute nursery things you're incorporating. Good job to you and your DH on picking such a fantastic name for your little man! :)

    I love our name we have picked but we also have a backup cause im a firm beliver in seeing the baby first just incase, my brother also had a name picked out and when he saw his son thought NOPE and went back to the drawing board so it can happen =)

    We decided on Elliott Zachary even before the ultrasound, and it was officially his name as of the anatomy scan.  The only "back-up" we have is if he should happen to be a she (which we really doubt).  Then her name will be Molly Rose.  :)

    That was us who chose Mason James.  We have a couple of other names that we like just in case, middle name is still the same but we like Davis and Parker.  If it's a girl she would be Alivia Jean.  But I think we are pretty set on Mason (today that is)!
