Sleep or lack thereof

I was reading a PP and a lot of you guys mentioned that you put your LO's down around 9-10. My question to you all is, do they actually sleep for an extended period of time? My DD usually goes to bed at 1:30 am and will sleep for 3-4 hours. If you girls are getting your LO's to sleep for an extended amount of time that early PLEASE let me know your secret!!

I put LO down at between 9-11 and then I usually stay up and do housework until her next feeding)3-4 hours later) Probably not the best use of my time, but since I spend all morning doing nothing, I need to get the laundry and cleaning done!

  • We lay her down after her 9pm feeding (which after BF, bottle, diaper change and some alert time it is closer to 10:30 then 9!) DH and I will then spend time together until her midnight feeding, so we are actually asleep by 1, she wakes up again at 3:30, and then again at 7 when my son wakes up. Eventually I'd like both kid's bedtime to consistently be 9pm but that will come in time.

  • Tonight we bathed her at nine and then I tried a baby massage (did not go well lol), rocked with her in the glider for awhile, gave her a bottle and then put her down with some music. She has been asleep ever since =) It feels really good to have started some sort of routine. I just thought it was too early to start. I am so happy that I have you all as a resource! I have no friends with kids so this is pretty much my only outlet. Thanks for your perspectives!

  • we put DS down anywhere between 10-11pm, I bf until he falls asleep. He usually sleeps anywhere from 2-5 hours before next feeding. We have a sleep monkey (makes ocean noises) that we only use at night to encourage some sort of bedtime only routine. He gets all swaddled and we put his head against the edge of the bassinet so he feels secure. Once we figured that out we got longer stretches of sleep.Naps during the day are usually in my arms or with my mom. I try to put him down for one of the longer stretches so I can get things done but I love holding him so I don't do it enough.
