So I am finally getting around to posting my baby girl's birth story. We were team green and I could sworn that I was having a boy. Nope. We are so truly blessed by our little girl and could not be happier.
I was due on May 17th, but my girl had a different plan. I was geared up to have a natural birth, but 8 days later...no baby. By the 25th I had an appt. with my OB and she could not believe I was still pregnant! We stripped my membranes, acupuncture, sex, walking, etc...so my OB gave me to option to A. induce now and have a baby by the weekend OR B. wait until Monday (Memorial Day) and see if labor happens naturally over the weekend or she would definitley induce on Monday. I was torn, exhausted, uncomfortable and emotional. Plus, my in-laws had been in town for a week and were leaving the next day. So, I decided that since I was not having ANY signs of labor (dialated at 4cm), no cramping, back pains, etc....then I was going to go for inducing. Doc was able to get me in that evening at 8pm.
So, we get to L & D at 8pm, get checked in and by 9:30 the evil Pitocin was administered. My in-laws and parents were in the room, visiting with me while DH went to go grab something to eat. I figured we were going to be there awhile and he should have some food in him. After the 'Evil P' was in for 20 minutes, I started to have contractions. Nothing too big or painful, but definitley close together...maybe 2-3 minutes apart, sometimes a minute. Another 20 minutes and they are getting pretty intense. Another 20 minutes goes by and I am having to breath through each contraction that is coming 1-2 minutes apart. FINALLY DH comes in to the room with me barely able to talk because the contractions are so strong. So he left with a happy wife and an hour later came into a room with a miserable one. I had one more gnarly contraction and *POP* my water breaks. Then the real fun began. I had 3 more horrific contractions (even the nurse couldn't believe how strong and fast they were coming) and then said YEP! Gonna get me an epi. Forget the med free labor, no way, uh ugh. Miracle man came in at 11:45pm, had the epi in my midnight and was a happy camper. We were instructed to get some sleep since it was going to be a long moring. We figured we would be pushing by 7-8 am since I was only dialated at a 5 at that point. We sleep for 2 hours and the nurse comes into check me and I am complete. Holy $*^t, I dialated 5 cm in 2 hours?! Yay for the epi!!
I pushed for 1.5 hours and my beautiful girl was born at 4:55am on Thursday, May 26th at 6 lbs. 11 oz, 21". Born 9 days late and had to be vacumed out. I had a minor tear but other than that a good labor. I take my hats off to all moms that went pain free!! I certainly could not do it! A picture of my sweet girl is below. I am exhaused but blessed. BFing is tough but getting easier. So much to learn!!
