Food Allergy

food reaction 5 days later?

My son is allergic to eggs and normally has 100% egg free food, however occasionally when we are out I will alloy him to eat a bite of cupcake or pasta (which may or may not have egg) we have had no issues for the past few months with doing things this way.... so Sunday he had two bites of cupcake and a little pasta salad, no food with egg since and no new foods, and this morning is having a reaction (itchy and some hives) daycare thinks it could be from the food Sunday, but from previous discussions with the allergist he said a food allergy would show up in minutes/ hours, not the next morning (which is what I asked at the time) so five days later I don't think this is the case.( I think he is developing seasonal allergies in addition to the egg) Amy I crazy or should I call the allergist anyway?

Re: food reaction 5 days later?

  • I know you posted this a few days ago, but I wouldn't think that his rash and hives would be caused by the food 5 days ago.  Did you call the allergist?

  • 5 days sound long, but i did hear it's possible. My son has a really bad reaction to something friday and yesterday it was still getting worse and i know he wasnt around anything since friday.

    seasonal allergies are a possibility.
