Anyone else's allergies AWFUL????

I thought I escaped them this year, but last week they really hit me.  I'm taking Claritin daily, but I'm still very sneezy/stuffy/headachey.....it's going to be a long summer.  What are you guys taking/doing/

Re: Anyone else's allergies AWFUL????

  • Ugh, it's hit me pretty good.  I'm sleeping with my mouth open again.

Might help if I took my Zyrtec (10mg OTC) and Flonase religiously and if I used that darn neti pot I have collecting dust under my bathroom sink.

So I don't think I have much right to complain.

  • It is very common for pregnant women to have stuffy noses. In What to Expect When You're Expecting, it says that some women think they are having really bad allergies when it is just the common symptom of having a very plugged up nose during pregnancy. It also says that generally right after delivery this symptom goes away totally.

I don't have allergies and my nose has been plugged up and even bleeds at times.

  • Mine have been horrible. I am so ready for it to get cold. I wake up multiple times a night sneezing and blowing my nose. I take Claritin once a day. Its still awful.

  • I actually went to the ER last Monday because I couldn't breathe... and was told to take benadryl at night and claritin.  It's helped, but I think getting air filters for our house and closing the windows all last week helped just as much!

  • Mine have been pretty bad (I think worse than last year).  I've been taking Claratin daily and tylenol when my head is really hurting.

I read this as well on babycenter. It's called rhinitis of pregnancy and is caused by the increase in blood flow to mucous membranes. My nose has been ridiculously stuffy.

  • UGH yes.  I also started sleeping with a snore strip at night to keep things open and it does help.

  • Mine have been horible.  I think its the heat that is causing a few things to bloom at once, where we would usually have a staggered blooming/pollen release period.

I've been taking Claritan daily but by the end of the day, I'm rubbing my eyes.  My nose is already stuffy from the remains of a cold, so its a double wammy for me.

  • I am having to take a benadryl every night. Also I will randomly have to take Sudafed.  It has helped tons but I do not like having to take something every night.

  • Mine have been bad...nightly Zyrtec helps, but I'm still more sneezy/itchy than usual.

We haven't had rain since last October. And we've had fires, and high winds-so blowing dust=miserable JA.

For me, cleaning the air ducts, religiously changing the air filters, nightly Zyrtec, and vacumning 2x a week helps.
