I remember reading somewhere that you should always buy a new crib mattress for a new baby and not re-use old... I can't remember why though...
DS has FINALLY transitioned to his big boy room after 3 weeks of hell in his toddler convertible bed..... we took that out and put a queen bed in there and he sleeps like a champ.
So now we can use crib for new baby which works out perfectly. But I'm wondering if I need to buy a new mattress??? I don't mind spending the money at all if it's the safest option.... but then if it's not a big deal I don't want to get a new mattress when I have a perfectly good one.
Advice?

I would get a mattress wrap. I think that the off gassing of a new mattress is as bad if not worse than the CO2 in a used mattress.
