Our 1st week of summer plans took on a drastic change just today, DD was supposed to be going out of town for the summer but she may not leave for another week or so. DH and I are both working full time next week so we need to find a good (and by good I mean inexpensive and safe) summer camp for her to go to for just about a week. Anyone have any info or ideas?
Re: Summer Day Camps for children
What part of town are you in?
I work at the non-profit nature center in Bellaire (the Nature Discovery Center) that has a camp next week that had a cancellation and a spot opened up. I haven't looked since Friday, so it is possible it has been taken, but I could check for you. The topic of next week's camps is Volcanoes, Earthquakes and Forces of Nature. The kids are ages 5 - 10 and there is a limit of 20 kids with an instructor (salaried NDC Staff), 4 teen counselors, and a college intern. Camp runs from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm with no pre or post camp care available. The cost is $250 for the week for non-members or $200/week for members - members get discounts on classes and camps year round and get a free rental of the pavilions for a birthday, etc.
The rest of the summer the topics are Birds of a Feather, Wacky Science, and Reptiles of the World and they all have some openings.
