i'm very frustrated with my pre-natal care for many reasons (and mostly just bitter that i live in a city where i can't use a midwife at a hospital) and i tried meeting with a new doctor this week and didn't get any better of a feeling from them than my current doc.
i'm just so frustrated and i feel like i'm going to end up with a c-section if i stay with my current practice even though they act vbac friendly.
any advice?
Re: has anyone had vbac on here?
I have not, but my BFF has. Her first baby was emergency c/s. She has had FOUR vaginal births since then. Her first 4 babies were delivered by the same doc, who did vbac, but retired a few years ago. Her last baby (born in August) was delivered by Dr. Schmidt (I think) at S. Austin Medical Center.
In fact, bff had a different dr at the beginning of pregnancy #5, but changed to Dr. Schmidt when she learned that the first dr refused to do vbac. Dont' know if you are South, but if you are I can confirm her dr's name if you are interested. I know that she ended up really liking this doctor a lot.
When 3 Became 4
I know it would be far, but have you considered trekking up to north austin to deliver at NAMC? You could be in a hospital w/ a midwife.
fwiw- at my 12 week appt I plan on having a verrrry open conversation w/ my ob/gyn about my desire for a vbac. we'll see how it goes.
There are some other VBAC friendly docs in north austin that I know one of my friends is using.
I posted on another list for you to get some south austin recs--I will email you off list.
thanks amylisa- i made an appt with dr. schmitz
and thanks borah! i'd love any reccs!
namc is too far for us- we live south and you aren't guaranteed to deliver with the midwife- you are stuck with whoever is on rotation, unless my understanding of it is incorrect.
Your understanding of Sebestyen's office is correct. You rotate through each provider for your visits and then who ever you get is who you get. Thankfully--I love them all
I agree--that drive is killer and if you went at rush hour--forget it. You are not moving up Mopac.
It was never terrible and I never minded.
