did anyone not have bad experience with toddler bed?

Because I just posted a picture on FB of A's new set up and the comments so far are NOT encouraging.  He started jumping out of the crib last night, and did it again at nap time .... so we transitioned his crib into the bed tonight.

Cheeseandrice.  What did I get myself into?  Anyone have super positive stories including things like: continued STTN, didn't get up at asscrack of dawn, didn't fall out and break his/her face, etc.?  Please and thanks.

Re: did anyone not have bad experience with toddler bed?

  • So far the transition has been a piece of cake. He still STTN, hasn't fallen out and has actually slept well in two different beds while we were OOT. We tried to really hype up the big boy bed so he'd be excited about it and DH made a huge deal about how he has to stay in it till we get him up. So far so good. ::runs off to find a huge piece of wood to knock on::

  • we had a super smooth transition. no change in sleep patterns, she's never fallen out, she loves it.

  • super dooper easy here!

we just popped off the crib rail and put on the toddler rail and that was that. it took him a few weeks to realize he could get out (but he hadn't tried to climb out).

i don't think we even needed the toddler rail :)

    good luck for sure!

  • It was hard for us, BUT we did it at 20 months... NEVER will do it that early this time with dd.

He is older, so I'm sure it will work out great. I hope it does!! :-)

  • She didn't STTN the first few nights, she woke up crying for 2-3 days but she was just disoriented. So far nothing broken =) Overall, it was not a bad experience at all.

  • Okay, yall are making me feel slightly less panicky.  Thanks.  He's still awake and keeps coming to the door, opening it, and yelling down to us (we've always kept a gate at his door).  He just asked to watch Pawn Stars, lol!!!  (DH let him watch an episode a few weeks ago and he's obsessed.)  Hopefully he settles in soon.

    Thanks, ladies!

  • it was no problem for us either.  in fact, he still sleeps in his big boy bed all night and nap-time and waits for us to come get him in the morning.  maybe he doesn't understand he can get out himself?  Stick out tongue he's always liked his sleep though.

  • We had a great transition.  In fact, he STARTED taking naps after switching to the toddler bed.  I've been blessed with kids who sleep through the night, but rarely, if ever, nap -- even at a young age.  But for a blissful six month period or so soon after transitioning to the toddler bed, he napped!
  • I can't quote on my phone, but thanks for the glimpse of my future, mlf. DH watches Pawn Stars all.the.time (and every other pawn show that is on these days). Hope last night went well!

  • Jakob did awesome.  The change didn't affect him at all.  But he had been climbing in and out of his crib at will for about 6 months so he already had freedom :)
