New Jersey Babies

Recommend a Jersey beach for vacation, please?!

We are from Pennsylvania and we are looking to take LO (and our inlaws, BIL, and SIL will be coming) to the beach for 4-5 days.  We are hoping for a recommendation on a place to go and also a place to stay, if possible!

I appreciate any help, I'm totally clueless when it comes to vacation planning.

Thank you!

  • There are quite a few nice areas you could stay.  Wildwood, Long Beach Island, Point Pleasant, etc.  You can google them and see where they are and they all have houses, condos, or hotel rooms you could stay in.  Hope this helps! Smile

  • I would highly recommend Wildwood/Cape May.  There is so much to do!!!  I would stay in North Wildwood or Wildwood Crest.  The drive to CapeMay is only 5 or 10 minutes.  It is such a great place for vacation!
We go every year with DH's family.  Last year we rented a condo on the beach in the Crest and it was very affordable!
  • I've never been to Wildwood but love Point Pleasant. As PP said, there are condos, hotels, houses you can rent.
  • I grew up in PA, and every summer, my family would vacation in Stone Harbor. It's a really nice beach town for families. There is no boardwalk there, but we used to take the ride over to Ocean City a couple of nights to visit theirs.

We always rented a house, but there are hotels there as well, if you prefer that.

  • I  second the Wildwood/Cape May suggestion.  Great family places.  Long Beach Island is also a great place to stay- lots to do for kids.  I can't give any suggestions as to where to stay, as I've always stayed with friends.  sorry.
  • Beach Haven or Cape May!

  • Long Beach Island is very family-friendly and the beaches are wonderful, but it can be pricey to rent a place.  As far as things to do, there's a small amusement park with rides for kids (in Beach Haven), there's a water park, a lighthouse, and the Surflight Theater, which does plays for children during the summer, as well as for adults.  Other than that, there's not much to do on the island except shop & go out to eat.

Point Pleasant is a bit more crowded (I think because there are more day-trippers), but there is a boardwalk with rides & games & food & bathrooms.
