"And can it be that in a world so full and busy, the loss of one weak creature makes a void in any heart, so wide and deep that nothing but the width and depth of vast eternity can fill it up." - Charles Dickens
The Actress pronounces it Zoe, which is incorrect, but thanks to the actress's fame, has sparked a trend of people who want to name their child Zoe but instead name her Zooey. The parents on the soccer team pronounce it correctly. Though, I wonder, are they also using it as a nickname for Zachary -- WHICH IT IS.
Reminds me of Franny and Zooey. In that story, Zooey was a boy, though. Anyway. I like Zooey Deschanel a lot, but I don't love the way she spells her name. It confuses others.
I hate people naming their child Zoe but spelling it Zooey. While I don't like the Zoo-ey pronounciation, at least those parents are pronouncing it how it's spelled.
