Well, where to start? What to say? I am completely speechless. Which as you all know is a new thing!
Tuesday morning my dr. wanted me to go into L&D because of my irregular contractions over the holiday weekend and some spikey, on and off high blood pressure. Went in at 9am, and we started the pitocin at 11:30 to induce her. Or as I like to say "serve the eviction notice" I tried to get on here and give you all the heads up but the internet connection was bad and I couldn't. But know that one of the first things I was thinking was "Oh no! I promised the ladies I wouldn't do this with out letting them know!" LOL early labor was easy. Slowly uping the meds and things were going fine. Then I hit the transition phase and threw up all over the place. I won't go into the details of active labor, I think I have PTSD! Dr. wanted 2-3 minutes between contractions, I was getting maybe 30-40 FREAKING SECONDS!
Finally called for the Epidural and that was a whole other new hell. I have scoliosis so that made it extremely difficult for him to get it whereever the hell it is suppose to be. It took over an hour and he sticked me about 14 times. Not counting the numbing! It only took on half of me and even that half wasn't 100% My left side was about 60% and the right was only 10%. I think I was scared and tense after that and that made the rest of labor hard for me.
The pushing only lasted about 25 minutes and I guess I pushed like a champ! Ok, here is the best part of the whole thing, well, besides Riley.
Her head and shoulders were out and my Dr. had me reach down grab her and I GOT TO PULL HER OUT THE REST OF THE WAY and put her on my belly!!! SO basically, I got to deliver my baby! The nurses were amazed, they had never seen a dr do that! Riley was crying before she was all the way out. Final stats are 8lbs 110z, 21 inches long with a head of 14 inches. UMMM, ouch! She looks exactly like her daddy and I am so in love! I will put some pictures up tonight.
So, Pearly, you are next!!!!!
Re: Riley Ann finally arrived!
Yay! Congrats & welcome Baby Riley Ann!
Woo Hoo welcome baby Riley Ann!!!! So happy for you guys and can't wait to see pics! When I didn't see you on here, I knew something was up.
At my doctor appointment today, the doc told SO and I that she can sweep my membranes next week if I'd like. My SO (oh Mr. Naturale) wasn't to happy about that, so we'll just let the little guy come when he's ready. Hopefully he doesn't pull a Riley Ann or those membranes will be swept!
Congrats and I can't wait to see pics.
