We went to dinner tonight and ran into the parents of a little girl Addison goes to day care with. Her mother (who we'll call O) proceeded to tell me that when she arrived today to pick up her daughter, my DD was at the front of the driveway and DCP was around the back of the house. NOT EFFING COOL. Then when she walked my DD back to the back DCP casually said "where was she at the front of the driveway?" and O said "Umm ya." She said she was half tempted to put my DD in her car and drive up the road a ways and see how long it took for DCP to come frantically searching for her.... I told her she should've and if this happens again to and to call me.
This is not the first time this has happened. When they were about a year old my DH arrived and my DD was about 20 feet away from DCP in the front yard close to the road. DH said she could've easily run out onto the road in front of his car, much quicker than DCP could've gotten up from the blanket she was sitting on w/ the other kids.
Seriously, what do I do? We are done w/ this DCP in 3 months when I have this baby, but my child's safety is obviously an issue here. Do I take her out and find alternate care for only a few short months? Do I tell DCP what I've been told and threaten to call the state (she isn't licensed)? Like I have NO clue what recourse there is there, but just putting it out there...
Re: I have a big problem and I need advice
I would look for an alternative temporary dcp for her.
I think since she isn't licensed the state can't do anything. But I would also let the other parents know what you are taking her out.
It makes me wonder how often it has happened.
I would watch her if I was closer
I would take her out for sure. Somethings can be overlooked that isn't one of them.
Sorry you have to deal with this!
ditto what everyone else has said.
i would get her out of there asap.
Yes exactly my thought! The one mother obviously sees it and she is already seeking alternate care (and may be having her daughter come with me in January actually) but I worry about the other parents and children...
