Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Do you let DD wear a bikini?

I am against DD wearing a two piece that shows her belly. But, i'm finding it hard to find a tankini in her size. (i like the 2 piece idea for diaper changes) So i'm wondering what other's have their DD's wear in the pool?

Re: Do you let DD wear a bikini?

  • I would "let" her wear one, but don't want to mess with sunblock on a slippery baby.  We bought a rashguard style one with a little skirted bottom from Gymboree.

  • DD wears a one piece. DH and I will not let her wear one for a long time; women wear bikinis to look sexy and she is too young to look sexy. lol. But she can wear a tankini if we find one that is cute.

They have some cute tankinis at Kohls and Target. We just got DD a one piece from Target for $10. It is pretty cute!

  • I don't have a daughter, but I'm putting my opinion in anyways. I love bikinis on babies, as long as they are still cute and tasteful. If I ever get to have a girl, she'll be rocking a few bikinis in her day.

Old Navy has some really inexpensive two-pieces that aren't bikinis:

    https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=54738&vid=1&pid=837189

I'm not a huge fan of the one in the second link, but someone else might like it.

I prefer a one-piece, since I like to keep some of her skin covered from the sun, but you have a good point about changing. We have several bathing suits for her and the ones that fit now are 2 2-pieces and a tankini-style one from Old Navy from last year. We have a bikini for her, but it won't fit until next year.

ETA: I don't like that the bikinis can end up showing way too much....like being too low, riding up, etc.

  • yes, DH picked out a lime green and whit polka dot bikini with a little skirt from gymboree AND it has a daisy on it :) I'd rather a tankini for diaper changes but he picked it out thus I'm forced to put her in it. She also has 3 other one pieces. I really don't think bikini's are that big of a deal on babies

  • I think little ruffly, tasteful bikinis on babies are adorable. Once LO is walking around on her own though, I dont think Ill have her wearing one anymore. Ill cut her off until she is out of college lol

  • I don't and won't put my DD in one. We've used the rash guards or one pieces.

  • I might be the oddball, but I don't see anything wrong with my daughter wearing a bikini. I'd rather her wear one now then when she's 16 and it's more sexualized. That being said, I let her pick out her bathing suit this year and she picked a one piece.

  • I wanted a bikini for her but couldn't find one I liked... so she has a one piece and a tankini.

  • Nope. She's been wearing 1 pieces so far and they've been totally fine. She isn't in them long enough to be concerned about diaper changes anyway.

We do have a tankini in the next size up that I found at Target. It's cute and will cover everything.

  • Yup! She's 7 months old. I'm not real worried about her looking "sexy". She has a one piece and a bikini, it depends on the situation. I have her in swimming lessons and definitely put the one piece on her for that.

  • My LO is the same age and I absolutely couldn't wait to buy her a bikini! Why not-she is just a baby and it is not a big deal. I found a really cute ruffled multi-colored one at Macy's. I also bought her a one shouldered one peice from buybuyBaby and just a regular one as a backup from Jack and Jill.

There is nothing wrong w it!! Just buy one!

I don't think there is much cuter than a baby girl in a tasteful two-piece, especially if that baby has some chunky thighs and a big ol' belly. Squeeeee!

We like a baby bikini in the LJC household. We go to the lake a ton in the summer and most of the time Lucy just wore her swim diaper. I just couldn't resist the adorableness of a polka dot bikini.

  • I am not a fan.  I am a freak about sun exposure so the less skin exposed the better-the girls generally wear rashguards. I do always make sure it is two piece though. Diaper changes in a bathing suit are a b!tch and Olivia is potty trained.
  • Joy wears a cloth swim diaper with a matching UV rash guard shirt.

It covers her from her elbows to her thighs, diaper changes are easy, it's cute, and most importantly, her skin is protected.

however long the night, dawn will break.

OMG, so precious LJC! You need to AW Lucy baby photos more often!

Don't you tempt me. I'll aw all up in the mother with Lucy pictures, newborn to present day, she was born with a full head of hair so don't worry about being weirded out.

    DD has this bikini

    image

It's freaking adorable.  I like a tasteful baby bikini.  No triangle tops or strings, just something that shows an adorably chubby belly.
