I have a friend who is getting divorced & feeling pretty down in the dumps. It is not amicable & she is not getting any financial help from her X. I would like to send her something to let her know that we are here for her emotionally (I'm in another state.) Flowers seem like a waste of money. I don't know if I should send something for her or if I should send something that can be for her & baby. Any ideas on what would be a good idea? TIA.

Re: Visiting from 12-24 & looking for suggestions please
If she is struggling financially, you could spend whatever you were going to spend on flowers and buy a Target or Walmart gift card. That way she can use it to get what she needs for her or baby, or if she is doing OK she can treat herself to something.
But even if you don't buy an actual gift, a nice card letting her know you are there to listen would be a really nice gesture.
I had a random order from Diapers.com show up about 2 weeks after DB moved out. It was sent from someone anonymously, and there were 2 cases of diapers and 2 cases of wipes. I couldn't have been more grateful.
But I agree with the others, a GC is always nice, but even just a nice card letting your friend know you're thinking of her.
