I moved in to my house a little over a year ago. I quickly discovered someone in the neighborhood had an unsecured internet connection. I've been 'borrowing' it since I moved in. Just this week it has become secured and I no longer have internet at home and I'm pretty bummed about it. But not bummed enough to pay for my own service.

If I didn't know any better and left my car unlocked, that gives you the right to go in and steal my stereo then, right?

I understand your stance on stealing is stealing, but that analogy is apples to oranges. Stealing a stereo and using a service is pretty different. They don't need to replace their internet and it's not costing them anything extra to have another computer using it.
Let's say you downloaded a song or a movie or something illegally though. It's attached to their IP address and they could be prosecuted for it. Just sayin'.

And she isn't crouching in their back yard to do it. Their service is reaching her home (I assume anyway).
Understood, I'm boring though and only used it for bumping and facebooking.
You're reaching pretty hard on this one, huh?
Well look at that, a confession that's actually kind of flammable.
Before my IL's got wireless internet, I'd bring my laptop on visits and bum off one of their neighbor's unsecured networks. My conscience is a bit of a hardasss though, and I don't think I'd be able to do that for my full time internet access.
So, there is a park near my home that hosts summer concerts. You need a ticket to go in.
BUT - if I am standing on the sidewalk listening for free, you would consider that stealing? I am listening to the music that others paid for and I didn't.
