let's discuss Father's Day gifts/ideas

What are you doing for DH this year? Any great ideas that went over well in years past?

I am usually pretty creative but I have zero ideas.

  • We're going on a rafting trip the last week in June, so part of that is his father's day present. I'm not very creative at all, but these two things have been the most-used gifts I've gotten for Charlie (birthday and christmas):

Leatherman Wave (though I didn't pay that price, not sure why it's gotten so $$)

Flexible Shaft Rotating Screwdriver (and moesten, if you see this, it's not because it includes the word "shaft!")

  • DH had a banjo and took lessons when he was younger.  Unfortunately his banjo was lent to a family member by his mother which in turn got lent out and given to someone else (no clue who)  So he has always wanted one.  So for Father's Day we got him a Banjo.  Unfortunately for me I am halfway through my Summer Classes and all I can hear is him picking on the darned thing!  Going to invest in some noise protection for my ears or cut the strings one of the two ;)

  • this idea from eighteen25 was hugely popular for teacher's appreciation week:

i changed it to say 'we love you a latte' and voila! - it works for father's day too.  i can't really think of anything for dh this year either (and we don't do big gifts anyway), but a starbucks gift card with his name on it would never go to waste.  also, we'll have a fun family day.

  • Thanks Kessler! DH is starting his own business so he's lurking in coffee shops a lot right now to get some work done outside of the house. That's perfect so he can grab a treat while he works.
