And I thought it was weird because my gas light had just come on? It happened again on Wednesday only I had plenty of gas this time so now I know it wasn't the gas tank. I lost all electric power to the car including my power steering while doing 50 on a major higway. Then all the service warnings started coming on. I took my car in and when I talked to them yesterday they said the only thing that the computer registered was that the satellite radio antena needed service. I am terrified they are going to try and give the car back to me saying they couldn't find anything wrong and it will do it again since that was a seriously dangerous situation. What if I had been going even faster on the freeway with no shoulder to pull over on? The car is only a year old and still under waranty.
Re: So remember how I ran out of gas last week
Does your DH take the highway to work? I ask because if he doesn't I might switch cars with him for a while to see if it happens again.
Oh, and I might also push the dealership harder to figure out what is going on. I had some issues with my old car ( 2 cars ago now) and it took forever for the garage to figure out the problem. It was a fuse that kept over heating and causing tons of problems.
I'm glad your're ok. It's so scary to have something like that happen!
Yes, and he travels all over the area so he isn't a better canidate to have the car f-up on him other than the fact that he isn't pregnant. Plus, he has a Tahoe and needs the room in the back to haul his product.
I don't know what I am going to do if they call me and want me to pick it up without fixing anything because I'm not doing that again.
I had similar things happen to our jeep. It turned out some "critter" ate the wire insulation. We had some bad/wet weather and something crawled up into the engine and made a meal out of it.
I hope they are able to resolve the problem.
definitely try it. also, if the radio dies, you have a few seconds to rev the engine-that charges the battery back up. If we were at a stop, we'd throw it in neutral and rev like morons lol. While driving, just speed up. We also made sure to have a battery charger in the car at all times until we finally figured out what was wrong.
My car is still at the dealership. How crazy cakes am I going to look if I call and try and tell them what might be wrong with it?
Honestly, I wouldn't take it back. I had a weird problem with my car and after 4 trips to the dealer, they still said nothing was wrong, and I lost it. I just sat back down and said "No.". I think they were pissed, but this stupid light had been going on, and going on, and shuddering, and I didn't want to die on the highway. I finally drove with the guy for 20 minutes around town until it did it, and they figured out what the problem was.
If they say there's nothing wrong, ask them if they think you're lying, crazy, or if they're comfortable with a pregnant woman driving it on the highway with a kid in the car.
Or, call Click & Clack.
