I like boys names for girls

I know many of you hate this. I just love it - and I know that its a tad odd- But my wife and I are a little odd anyway !

I know many of you will be gagging .... but i really love

The following names for girls

Charlie

Stanley

Cooper

Lou

Shiloh

Quinn

So if you hate it -ok you hate it ... If you love or liek it cool what other names would you suggest !

Joey could fit your criteria as well. You could name her Josephine but have her go by Joey so that she can choose later in life if she wants a more girly name!

I'm not so much with Stanley and Cooper, but I'm with you, I loooove boy names for girls. DH hates it, he's all about the Lilliana-type names. It sounds too sugary sweet for me. If a boy can have a strong name, so can a girl!

My favorite name growing up was Charley for a girl! I met a girl when I was 10 with this name and was so jealous! BUT the moment she cut her hair(not even that short) people would think she was a boy though. So just be careful.

I like some boy names for girls, too. DS's name (had he been a girl) was going to be Cooper (other grandma's maiden name).

But yeah. Stanley made me gag. STANLEY?

I don't like this trend but there are a few boy names I like on girls. I like Danny (Danielle, Danica, etc.), Andy (Andrea), Sam (Samantha). Charlie is not too terrible.

I think a little girl named Cooper would be mega adorable. Obviously, I like Quinn too.

Lou is okay, but I think it needs to be part of a longer name. Same with Charlie (I prefer Charley for a girl).

Stanley and Shiloh are nms.

I would consider Shiloh and Quinn more feminine anyway.

I like Charlie (We know a really cute little girl named Charlie Kate, double fn), Joey, Ryan, Arden, Campbell, Camden, Colby, Gray, Greer, Morgan, Parker, Reagan, Sloan, Sutton, Teagan, Tyler, Bailey, Carson, Evan.

I'm not a fan of this practice. Shiloh and Quinn are OK, but only because they don't sound uniquely male to me. Stanley was actually the first name of Barack Obama's mother-- I think it may have been after her father, which I always thought was weird. Anyway, I don't like.

If you're really into boy names for girls, how about using a feminization of a strong male name? Like Phillipa, Theodora, Charlotte, Georgia, etc.? Then you could use a boy nickname (Teddy, Charlie, etc.) and your daughter wouldn't be stuck with the inconveniences of having a masculine legal name.

I tend to like boy names for girls too, not all, but some are cute. I like Ryan, Dylan, Evan, and others as NN, like Sam and Andy. Charlie is cute too, but I don't like Cooper or Stanley for either a boy or a girl.

I agree with this. Our little girl is probably (well, almost definitely) going to be named Sutton Genevieve. If we'd have been able to agree on a more feminine first name, her middle name would've been Everett (family last name on DH's side). But I just couldn't do that to her with a more masculine FN...

I like Alex, Andy, Bobbi, Billie, Sam, Theodora, Thora, Elliot for girls. I hate Ryan/Ryanne for a girl and Evan is a boy name. Dylan is also a boy name.

Our DD is Charlie (real name Charlotte) b/c we have a lot of "Charles" in our families, so female of Charles.

I loved Dylan, but DH didn't go for that one.

My name is Kerry - it's a name given to both boys and girls and I'd even venture to say that it leans on the more feminine sounding side (however I've met more men than women w/ the same spelling). There are definitely inconveniences.... not huge, but enough to be a pain. I wouldn't change my name, but would encourage parents that like a masculine name for girls to provide their child w/ the option of a feminine name if they wanted to use it as an adult (i.e. Joey for Josephine or something similiar). I get more mail to Mr than Mrs. People call my house and ask for Mr. Kerry Last Name. In college when picking apartments, there were issues because people thought our all-girls apartment was co-ed because of my name. None of these are huge, but when it happens EVERY day, it's a pain. It might not be a big deal when they're cute little elementry school aged children, but the names we pick now will be with them as adults, when they are married, for their careers - as doctors, teachers, CEOs. I'd think it would be a big inconvenience for a female Charlie or Cooper.

To mummyofsix w/ Emerson - I think that's a name that we're seeing more and ore often for girls, so maybe that's why it's not presenting an issue.

I like boy's names for girls, but Stanley is a little too much for my style. Plus- I always think of Flat Stanley when I hear the name.

There's an article floating around somewhere about this, but I can never find the link. Basically, it can cause a lot of administrative headaches later on. For what it's worth, though, I don't think that Emerson is strictly a boys name these days. It seems to have gone right from being a surname to riding the Emily/ Emma wave into femininity. It's currently more popular as a girl's name (315) than a boy's name (432). So it's not the same as naming your girl Stanley.

I think Charlie, Lou, and Quinn are already Socially acceptable Girls names. I'm not sure if I like Stanley or Cooper.

Other names I like for girl or boy, are Taylor and Jordan

I've always loved Dillon for a girl (like, before I met my H...and it won't work with our LN, or I'd so use it), but can't see past boy with the spelling Dylan.

And I like all the names OP listed, except Stanley for a girl. I can't get on board with that.

Stanley doesn't strike me as a good name for a girl at all, but then I don't even like it for a boy.

For some reason, it struck me the other day that Henry could be a cute girl name, but I would never se it for a girl. Maybe it's because of the 'ee" sound at the end.

Before we realized how popular it was, Aiden was on our girl list. There's a poster or maybe it's a blog somewhere with girls named Wesley and Hudson.
